Ready, Set, Glow!!!

via Neon Run Facebook

Yes, it is that time again where I push myself to do a 5k! I know, no big deal, right? It's just 3.1 miles! Like I've said before, I am NOT a runner. Okay, maybe just a little.

The times that I do get out to run and maybe push myself a little farther than before, I feel SO good! I'm a little halfway there. I ran an estimated 2.2 miles this morning! Ha ha! I run with my little chihuahua/retriever mix (don't ask) :). She does pretty good for herself! Of course, there are times where she wants to stop at a scented spot here and there that's new to her but I tug at her harness and tell her to keep going. But sometimes the stops are a welcome relief. There are other times, where she will start sprinting and so that encourages me to move a bit faster. It's nice to have a cute running buddy!

One day, oooone day, I'll get to a half marathon! I'll put that on my bucket list.

Oh, birthday month update! So this past weekend was a blast! I have several other April birthday friends and I got to celebrate one of them this past weekend. I celebrated with my friend, Gracie, who by example, showed me I need a little, no A LOT of color in my life! It's amazing the colors that you can put together. You should try it this spring and summer! There are so many colors to wear! You just might pick up someone's face with a smile!  It was fun spending part of her birthday with her and some other friends.

Gracie is in the middle!

My friend Nefertari (above picture, right), came and visited too! I know she was so happy to see Gracie and to hang out with us. Nefertari is not only my friend but a purse diva, I carry one of them with me all the time! She's also a food connoisseur. On her way down to visit us, she stopped at a couple of her favorite spots to pick up some of the items she loves, so she can take them back home to enjoy, a little at a time. She even brought me an early birthday cupcake from DOTS. It was so very moist and though the cake was not too sweet, the icing made up for it. Thank You Lord for friends.

Sunday, I was so exhausted from the weekend that after we went to church in the morning and looked for a microwave, I just wanted to go home and take a nap. And that's just what I did, a two-hour-nap!

Later on that night, I had a good cry. I found out I hurt my husband's feelings, more like embarrassed him and I didn't realize it. I was caught up in the moment. But I should have known, by the small signals he was giving me or the look he gave me.

So after our heated exchange, I left the table to cry. I wanted to stop the tears but I'm like, you know what, it's a okay to cry. I gave the situation to the Lord and asked Him to help me to understand my husband better and to help me be aware.  I told my husband that I was sorry for what I did. Though it was a hard night, he forgave me. We talked about it later and I got a better understanding. Plus, we had the best make up ever!

So here's to another week of birthday fun and celebration!

Love, Mrs. M

Yeah Right

That's the interjection we get to hear sometimes on Sunday from a guy who goes to our church. He says it in a way that he doesn't believe what he just heard. Our pastor continues to preach. I look at my husband and roll my eyes and smile (sometimes). Last night, at Wednesday night service, my husband heard that come out of my mouth kind of as a joke.

Today has been one of those days, all these thoughts going through my head like "you're not good enough", "so and so is gossiping about you", "you're getting fat", "why don't I know how to communicate with my husband in a way thats engaging, "what is being feminine? high heels and make-up?", "why apply for the job, they already gave it to someone else", and the list goes on.

I was on the verge of tears. Those lovely things seem to come at the most inappropriate times. I wish I was pregnant and then I could just blame it on the hormones. So I was sitting at my desk, blinking my eyelids in rapid fashion to keep the dam from breaking, taking deep breaths, praying and pleading in my heart for God to help me. I was also listening to good, wholesome Christian music on the Fish via stream on my phone.

Songs were coming on that were going straight to the heart. They were singing my heart. I wanted to cry and at the same time I was feeling anger, sadness...am I going crazy? No, I am not. So.....I'm like God please help me!

I made my escape to the bathroom, where I wish I would have just let the tears flow, but I did a little more dabbing, a little more sniffing, a little more praying.

As I stood there talking, uh-hmm, complaining to God, the thought came to me, "what are you thankful for today?" Then the reminders of what God has done or how He had answered my prayers started coming. And just like that guy at church, I realized I had been saying to God, "Yeah right!" Like, "Yeah right. Did You really do that?" "Yeah right, did You answer my prayers?" Writing this, it almost sounds like the devil, the enemy of my soul talking like he did to Eve in the garden asking her, "Did God really say?"  Ewwww!

So I stood in that bathroom stall, thanking God for what He has done. He's allowed me to breath another day with full capacity of my lungs unlike the time I was in D.C. and I couldn't breath that well. He answered my prayers for breath, to breath fully and I didn't realize it! How he's given me my husband, the man I had prayed for, and He answered my prayers for him in more ways than I could have asked! How He has given me a job (though I don't like it at times for people reasons but He will help me..). And so much more!

Today, I want to say Thank You Lord instead of Yeah Right! Thank You!
