Work, Florida, Hurricanes, Honeymoon--- Oh Yes!

Trust me, I sit at my desk and I want to write in my "Diary" but then time flies by or watching eyes do and then the day is over!

So here we are again :)

I am SO excited! I get to go to Florida for three whole weeks and then some! And you know what else, hubby gets to come with me for at least some of that time! Yee haw! I know it's going to be hot and humid! Humidity and straight hair don't mix. But you want to know one of the many advantages of having a natural hair style? No frizz, no unwanted Afro puff, cause I already have the Afro!

But it is hurricane season! Should I be worried? Husband says no. I hope he's right! I look forward to telling you about our adventure!

And since we are already going to be in Floriday we thought it would be a great time to take our honeymoon too! (The side story is that after we got married, we got to spend 4 nights, if I remember right, at a local resort because he had to leave for a two week work up. He's in the Navy. So our plan was to get away later for our "REAL" Honeymoon to somewhere exotic! This just might be our chance!) I thought the Dominican would be great, or Oh, I almost forgot, Jamaica! He might think somewhere else would be great.  First and foremost thought I have to get my leave approved by the BOSS.  So I am hoping and praying that the BOSS will let me go. He sees me being gone too long from the office. It's been done before!  For goodness sakes, I'll be WORKING those weeks! I see it as being economically efficient and smart. God knows! I mean good grief, I didn't think I would get to go to Florida and He, I believe opened that door there :) I'll let you know the outcome in another post.

Dear Rachel Ray,

I just have to let you know that your cookbook 365: No Repeats was one of the first cookbooks that I reached for this morning to see what tantalizing and fun cuisine I could cook up for my husband tonight. I didn't want anything too heavy and something that looked a little easy. For some reason, I was stuck on pasta. I didn't want to make the same old spaghetti. I don't want my husband's taste buds to become used to the same old, same old. So you know what I came upon? Your Tomato-Basil Pasta Nests!

No matter what they turn out to look like (hopefully mine will resemble pasta nests) I'm sure this recipe won't disappoint my husband either.

And you wonder what are some of the things I do at work?  Being that I like to cook and I have at least one other mouth to feed when I get home, though he can cook for himself BUT I want to (though there are sometimes, where I'm like where is the closest frozen pizza!).  I sometimes try to find new recipes that sound good and look good!

At times like these, I wish I was a stay at home wife, who could really (finish) set up our home to be homier. As it is now, since moving into our house, the process has been SLOOOOOW. I also wish that I had time to grocery shop. But I guess that's where discipline comes in.

I'm so grateful for a husband who will pitch in here and there to help but he has things that he needs to do too. I just wish I could do it all, so that when he does come home, the floor is vacuumed, laundry is done and dinner is finished. Okay, I'm dreaming!

Feeling useful and being refreshed

Today is the kind of day where I actually feel useful.

When you spend at least 8 hours in one place, you want to feel useful. At least I do and I'm thankful for the opportunity. I got to use my brain and exercise it by problem solving an issue that we had in the office! (If I should leave this job, I don't want to have to pick up the mush that has become my brain and take it with me). I also participated in a business conference call where I felt so grown up plus I get to do something important.

LOVE. IT.

At lunch, I felt refreshed by being with women who share with me our faith in Christ. For some time, I have be wanting and needing some hang out time with some Sisters in Christ. My prayers were answered when I attended a prayer event for the National Day of Prayer! There I met Erin and Rosie who in turn introduced me to some other ladies.  Later, I found out that they had a Bible Study from one of our maintenance guys who wanted to go to the study too until he got downstairs and found out that they were all women. He didn't want to feel like the odd man out I guess. They all work in the same office and know each other but I don't feel like the oddball.

  

Though these women are not terribly older than me, they are older and I believe they have a lot of wisdom to offer and I hope to get to know them better.

When I was a child, I loved hanging around older people to the point I thought I would be a Geriatrics Nurse or Physical Therapist. I think it's the First Child syndrome. Sometimes there is this comfortable familiarity that I sense with older folks. And I like when they share their stories or something that they have learned in life.

I hope I can grow to be a wise old woman so that I can share with the younger generation something that I've learned.

On that note,  I gotta get back to my usefulness ;)

Lunch Time!

Lunch time! Means, you get a break, a rest from your work, a time to just chill out! Hey if you work a regular 8-hour work day, the other half of your work day is about to begin.

So I have an idea of doing something new for part of my lunch and I look forward to sharing it with you in the next couple of days. Ideas usually invade me throughout my work day and  hopefully this one sticks. It has to do with this blog and my thoughts (ha ha, that can be dangerous). But I hope that with this new change comes interest, fun, refreshment, meeting new blog friends and encouragement knowing that you are not alone!

Whether it's cloudy and rainy, hot and muggy, dry and crispy or a beautiful, sunshiny day like today, come and have lunch with me! See you in a few days!

Dear Boss, Thank you for being so gracious and giving us the time off. Now I get to go and do the things that I really want to do!

Dear Husband, Thank You for kissing me before you leave for work, even though most of the time I still have morning breath. Yuck! I would like to give you a more passionate kiss before you leave but I don’t want you to pass out, I think you understand. Thank you for loving me. I love you, Baby!

Dear Dad, I’m glad that God blessed you to see another year of life. Happy Birthday! I’m looking forward to celebrating with you another day. You know that’s my tradition—spread the celebration for about a month if you can J

Dear Julie, I’m so sorry that you lost your dad to cancer this week. I don’t know what to say but when I see you, I will give you a great big hug. Maybe some wine and chocolate if you want.

Dear Friday, Thank you for coming as fast as you did! But I think Wednesday helped you out because it was the Fourth of July. So thanks to Wednesday too!

Dear Heart, hold on to God, stretch out in trust! There is a lot that He wants to show you and give you. He loves you!

Dear Weekend, Here I come with my crazy, I mean chilled out self. I hear that you have some exciting plans for us!

Dear Old San Diego Sun, Please stay out this weekend so that you can warm our beings!
